Sending Teams
What is a sending team?
A sending team is a group of people who complement the ministry of a missionary
- during their preparation to leave,
- while on the field and
- when returning home.
Working together they help provide or facilitate moral, logistical, prayer, financial, re-entry and communication support to the missionary and their family.
What are the roles of a sending team?
Moral Support
- Encourage and show appreciation through ongoing relationships
- Support spiritual growth
Logistical Support
- Practical help with: taxes, health issues, material goods, mail, business needs, IT issues, education concerns for children, & transportation
Prayer Support
- Be a part of a prayer group that meets on a regular basis
- Relay prayer requests to the church and individuals
Financial Support
- Regular monthly support and special needs
- Recruiting of others
Re-Entry Support
- Practical needs such as transportation and housing while home
- Cultural readjustment and educational transitions
- Scheduling and coordinating local ministry opportunities
Communication Support
- Letters, email, care packages, phone calls
- Helping the missionary stay connected to the church
