Sending Teams

What is a sending team?

A sending team is a group of people who complement the ministry of a missionary

    • during their preparation to leave,
    • while on the field and
    • when returning home.

Working together they help provide or facilitate moral, logistical, prayer, financial, re-entry and communication support to the missionary and their family.

What are the roles of a sending team?

Moral Support

  • Encourage and show appreciation through ongoing relationships
  • Support spiritual growth

Logistical Support

  • Practical help with: taxes, health issues, material goods, mail, business needs, IT issues, education concerns for children, & transportation

Prayer Support

  • Be a part of a prayer group that meets on a regular basis
  • Relay prayer requests to the church and individuals

Financial Support

  • Regular monthly support and special needs
  • Recruiting of others

Re-Entry Support

  • Practical needs such as transportation and housing while home
  • Cultural readjustment and educational transitions
  • Scheduling and coordinating local ministry opportunities

Communication Support

  • Letters, email, care packages, phone calls
  • Helping the missionary stay connected to the church
